Which philosophy applies to the famous case, brown v. board of education (1954)? why?

Your answer would be, The philosophy of Judicial Activism was used in Brown v. Board of Education, Because, it allowed for a complete policy shift, and moved away from the "Separate but Equal" which was ok before this.
