The temperature is 60??F. The temperature will decrease by 3??F each hour. Let h be the number of hours. When will the temperature be below 32??F? Write an inequality for this problem.

60 - 3h < 32

This is your equation. Now to solve, subtract 60 from both sides.

- 3h < 32 - 60
- 3h < - 28
Divide by - 3 on both sides. This will flip the inequality.

h > 9.333 (the 3s repeat).

After 9 and 1/3 hours (AKA 9 hours 20 minutes), the temperature will be below 32 degrees Fahrenheit.
