Which represents a quadratic function?

f(x) = −8x3 − 16x2 − 4x
f (x) = x 2 + 2x − 5
f(x) = + 1
f(x) = 0x2 − 9x + 7

Please note: the proper way to denote exponentiation is to use the symbol " ^ "

So you'd have x^2 + 2x - 5, with "x^2" meaning "x squared."

This is the only function that has the 2nd power of x and is therefore a quadratic function.

Answer:

\text{The quadratic function is }f(x)=x^2+2x-5

Explanation:

Given the following functions

we have to choose the function which represent the quadratic function.

Quadratic function is the polynomial function of degree 2 which is of the form

ax^2+bx+c=0

where a is not equal to 0.

Here, the only function

f(x)=x^2+2x-5

which is of degree 2 and of form
ax^2+bx+c=0 where a is not equal to 0.

Hence, option 2 is correct.
