Aubrey has a new art box in the shape of a rectangular prism. The box is 5  inches, by 8 inches, by 2  inches. The only thing in the art box is a new pink eraser with the dimensions shown below.

the erase is 0.25, 1 and 2inches

What is the volume of the art box not taken up by the eraser?

V = lwh

V = 20 * 12 * 5

The total volume of the art box not taken up by the eraser is:
Vt=V(artbox)-V(eraser)

V(eraser)=0.25 inchesx1 inchx2 inches
V(eraser)=0.5 inches³

V(artbox)=5 inchesx8 inchesx2 inches
V(artbox)=80 inches³

Vt=80 inches³-0.5 inches³
Vt=79.5 inches³

The answer is: 79.5 inches³
