What is the value of x in the following expression... 88 = 4a + x

88 = 4a + x

Rewrite the equation as 4a+x=88

4a+x=88

Since 4a does not contain the variable to solve for, move it to the right side of the equation by subtracting 4a from both sides.
4a + x = 88
-4a -4a


Therefore, x = 88 - 4a


Our answer is x = 88 - 4a

We can't simplify this any further, as we have no value of a.
