"3 times the measure of an angle is" looks like this in equation form: 3x = , where x is the measure of the angle and the word :"is" means equals. A complement is 90 - the measure of the angle, so 90 - x, and 14 less than that indicates we are subtracting 14 from that complement. In the end, the equation is this: 3x = (90 - x) - 14; 3x = 76 - x; 4x = 76 and of course x = 19. These darn story problems...
