What is the remainder when 2x4 + 5x3 - 17x2 - 5 is divided by x + 3?

By the remainder theorem when the function is divided by x + 3 , the remainder is f(-3).

f(-3) =2(-3)^4 + 5(-3)^3 - 17(-3)^2 - 5 = 162 - 135 - 153 - 5 = -131 (answer)
