A store makes a profit of $14.76 on each belt it sells. The company will also give each store $50.00 for carrying its product. If the store wants to make at least $475.00 on the belts, what is the fewest number of belts it will have to sell?

x= number of belts

multiply $14.76 times number of belts sold, add $50 and set this equal to $475.00.

$14.76x + $50= $475.00
subtract 50 from both sides

14.76x= 425.00
divide both sides by 14.76

x= 28.794 belts

* since we cannot sell partial belts, round up to the next whole number

ANSWER: The store must sell a minimum of 29 belts.

Hope this helps! :)
