Find the vol. of the box and then subtr. the bulb vol. from it:

(3 cm)(3 cm)(6.5 cm) = 58.5 cm^3.

Subtract 54.09 cm^3 from that. Result: 4.41 cm^3 is wasted space.

Well the wasted space would be the empty space which is the total volume of the box minus the volume of the light bulb.

So it would be

(3*3*6.5)-54.09=

58.5-54.09= 4.41 cm^3
