It is a sudden and temporary onset of the loss of the kidneys in which the body is unable to remove metabolic wastes or perform regulatory functions. The inability of the kidney to maintain homeostasis leading to a buildup of nitrogenous wastes (different to renal insufficiency where kidney function is deranged but can still support life)
