Explanation:

If a combined event consists of two events having possibilities of outcomes as a and b respectively, then the total number of outcomes for the combined event will be given by :-


a* b

We know that the number of possible outcomes for rolling a die = 6

And the number of possible outcomes for tossing a coin = 2

Then , the number of outcomes are in the sample space for the event "first roll a die and then toss a coin" will be:-


6* 2=12
