km left. what is the total distance of the journey ?

If you covered 3/5 of the journey,
then
1-3/5 =2/5 left.
At the same time 12 km left.

12 km is 2/5.

Whole will be equal (12:2)*5 or 12*5/2=6*5=30.
The total distance of the journey is 30 km.
