Tom paid $22.00 plus 7% of $22.00:
22 + .07(22) = 22 + 1.54 = 23.54
Tom's cousin paid $18.00 plus 4% of $18.00:
18 + .04(18) = 18 + 0.72 = 18.72
Tom pays $23.54 on his shirt and his cousin pays $18.72. Tom spent more on tax.
