MDAS=Multiply, Divide, Add, Subtract

Step 1. Multiply 2(4y+1)

Equation is now: 8y+2=3y

Step 2. You want to have your "y"s on the same side of equation. Therefore, you subtract 8y from both sides.

8y+2-8y=3y-8y
2=-5y

Step 3. Solve for Y by dividing both sides by -5

-2/5=y
