He always beat them, and this time too he was going to be the first to reach home—the first piece of the marvelous marble cake his aunt was baking would be his to take.
Terry looked around and saw that many of his former classmates had turned up for the reunion. At age 35, he was successful and famous, and had managed to fulfill many of the dreams he had had as a lanky teen.
