Simplify cube root of 5 over fourth root of 5.
A) 5 to the power of 1 over 4
B) 5 to the power of 1 over 12
C) 5 to the power of 7 over 12

The answer is B but if only there were an option E

It is B, because by using the rational exponent property, x to the m/n power equals x to the m power to the nth root. If you did that, you would have 5 to the 1/3 power divided by 5 to the 1/4 power. We know that if we have the same base and we divide, we will have to subtract the exponents. 1/3-1/4 is 1/12, therefore the answer is 5 to the 1/12 power.
