What is the equation of the line in slope-intercept form?

y = −2x + 8
y = −8x + 2
y = −2x + 16
y = 16x − 2

What is the equation of the line in slope-intercept form? y = −2x + 8 y = −8x + 2 y-example-1

Read off b immediately: the y-intercept is at (0,16). What's the slope? as we move from x=0 to x=8, y decreases from 16 to 0. Slope = rise / run = -16/8 =-2.

Then the eqn of the line in slope-intercept form is y = -2x + 16.
