y = 1/2x - 5

We know the slope to be 1/2 because lines that are parallel have the same slope. Then we can solve using slope-intercept form and the known point.

y = mx + b ----> Input known values
-2 = (1/2)(6) + b ---> Multiple
-2 = 3 + b ----> Subtract 3 from both sides
-5 = b

Now we can use the y-intercept found and the slope to write the equation above.
