3y - 6 = 45

Solving for y: if -6 crosses the other side of equality it becomes + 6

3y = 45 + 6

3y = 51

y = 51/3

y = 17

I hope this helped you. Cheers.

Answer is 17

You would take 45-6= 51 and to get x alone you divide 51 by 3 which equals 17
