Here are three different urinary complaints: cystitis, prostatic hyperplasia, and urinary incontinence.
Cystitis: The diagnosis is set from the clinical signs: Urinary frequency, urgency, and painful urination, and also the absence of fever and absence of symptoms four weeks before this episode. Its hard to set a prevalence for cystitis but half of the women had cystitis in their lives, and 30% of them have a recidivism of it.
Prostatic hyperplasia: The signs are common with cystitis (urinary frequency, incontinence, and pain), plus, there are urinary flow and ejaculation weakness. The diagnosis is set by signs and symptoms and also by PSA test (prostate specific antigen). It concerns old men (more than 50 years), about half of them suffer from benign prostatic hyperplasia.
Renal failure: Often diagnosed too late, its signs are sudden tiredness, digestive disorders, tingling in the legs, edema, urine color and flow changes, rapid weight gain. It is diagnosed by renal clearance (of creatinine the most of the time). Studies suggested that the world prevalence is 5%.
