A soup can in the shape of a cylinder is 6 inches tall and has a label wrapped around it. The label does not cover the top and bottom of the can. If the radius of the can is 1.5 inches, how much paper was needed to make the label? Use 3.14 for es023-1.jpg and round the answer to the nearest tenth.

we know that
lateral area of a cylinder=perimeter of the base*height

perimeter of the base=2*pi*r
r=1.5 in
perimeter of the base=2*(3.14)*1.5----> 9.42 in

lateral area of a cylinder=9.42*6-----> 56.52 in²------> 56.5 in²

the answer is
56.5 in²
