so The setting is dark (my regards to the earlier answer of the person before me) but it really emphasizes more on the persona's pride in how they carry themselves. You read the poem and you don't imagine that persona holding his head down, it's held high and proud.
Comparison in the Ending
- Comparing the ending of both poems, "We Real Cool" talks about dying young, dying young where you have lived a wild life. You die living young and it is an inevitable thing when you're cool. Invictus is about dying with a noble will. There is a sense of dying for honor and facing death with no fear. You die living the life of a soldier and because of so, you take control of your soul, your "dignity."
