A monochromatic light beam with a quantum energy value of 4.3 ev is incident upon a photocell. the work function of the photocell is 2.2 ev. what is the maximum kinetic energy of the ejected electrons?

As per Einstein's Photo electric effect theory

E = \phi + KE

the energy which incident in form of photon will be absorbed by the metal surface and some of the energy is released in form of KE of ejected electrons

E = 4.3 eV

\phi = 2.2 eV

now from the above equation

E = \phi + KE

4.3 = 2.2 + KE

KE = 2.1 eV
