Whenever you want to find the distance between two points, you can use the distance formula.

d=√(x₂-x₁)²+(y₂-y₁)
d=√(6-(-1)²+(2-(-1)²
d=√(7)²+(3)²
d=√49+9
d=√58
d=7.62

You would need the distance formula

\sqrt{(x_(2)-x_(1))^(2)+(y_(2)-y_(1))^(2)

Insert the numbers

\sqrt{(-1+1)^(2)+(2-6)^(2)

Solve inside

\sqrt{(0)^(2)+(-4)^(2)

Square and add

√(16)

Square root
4 units is the distance
