The US federal government regulates the foods sold in the American economy. The Food and Drug Administration is a federal agency that supervises the foods sold in the US. This agency ensures that the food consumers are buying are indeed safe to consume. This helps citizens stay safe from a variety of illnesses.

Along with this, the federal government establishes a federal minimum wage. This is the lowest an individual can be paid according to federal law. Without this law, businesses would be able to pay citizens whatever they wanted.
