Writing in the vernacular format means that the bible would be written in the common language of the people. Historically, bible was written in two languages, Ancient Greek and Latin, depending on which branch of Christianity you belonged to. He wanted to print bible in common languages among the people such as French, English, Dutch, or similar, so everyone could read it.
