1. The variable Y by its self is the same thing as 1Y and since the Y is negative you have to subtract 1Y from 7.2Y.
2. This equation give you the answer 6.2Y.
3.Then you want to do 5.3-9 and since 9 is bigger, you're answer is going to be negative.
