The hydrogen ion concentration (H+) for the aqueous solution in which (oh-) is 1 x10 ^-6 mol/l is calculated as below
we always know (H+)(OH-) = 1 x10 ^14
make the H+ the subject of the formula
H+ =1 x10^-14/ OH-
by substituting the OH-
H+= (1 x10^-14)/( 1 x10^-6)
H+ =
1 x 10 ^-8 mol/l
the solution is
basic
since it contain OH- ions
