One angle of a triangle measures 140°. The other two angles are in a ratio of 7:13. What are the measures of those two angles?

STEP 1:
Triangles= 180°

Other Angles= 7:13= 7x + 13x

Add all the angles to equal 180°

140° + 7x + 13x= 180°
combine like terms

140° + 20x= 180°
subtract 140 from both sides

20x= 40
divide both sides by 20

x= 2


STEP 2:
substitute x value to find other two angles

7x= 7(2)= 14° one angle

13x= 13(2)= 26° other angle


CHECK:
140° + 14° + 26°= 180°
140 + 40= 180
180= 180


ANSWER: The other two angles measure 14° and 26°.
