Elections ought to be free, fair and credible. however, the current forms of election in Zimbabwe are free, but not fair and credible. The election is a process from the word go. Voter education must be conducted thoroughly in the country. In addition, the country regime must stop harassing opponents through mobs, and youth militias. The country must also invest in the latest electoral technologies such as BVR kits. the results must also be verifiable, and the losing candidates must always be willing to concede defeat.

I believe that the election process in Zimbabwe does not meet the minimum standards that the United Nations require in order for a country to be considered "democratic." However, there are some actions we can take that can increase the legitimacy of elections.

First of all, we need additional volunteers that can monitor voting stations. In recent years, violence in voting stations has increased, and this can only be controlled by ensuring better overview of the stations. Moreover, we need to find strategies to protect freedom of the press. If the media cannot speak freely, then people cannot be politically educated, which might lead to them making worse choices as a consequence. Finally, I would recommend that the United Nations provides overseers that can supervise the process and ensure that the elections have not been manipulated in any way.
