Emma and Mila go to the movie theater and purchase refreshments for their friends. Emma spends a total of $117.00 on 9 bags of popcorn and 9 drinks. Mila spends a total of $23.00 on 1 bag of popcorn and 3 drinks. Write a system of equations that can be used to find the price of one bag of popcorn and the price of one drink. Using these equations, determine and state the price of a bag of popcorn, to the nearest cent.

For this case, the first thing we must do is define variables.
We have then:
x: cost of each bag of popcorn
y: cost of each drink
writing the system of equations we have:
9x + 9y = 117
x + 3y = 23
Solving the system of equations we have:
x = 8 $
y = 5 $
Answer:
a system of equations that can be used to find the price of one bag of popcorn and the price of one drink is:
9x + 9y = 117
x + 3y = 23
The price of a bag of popcorn is $ 8.
