the median m = 117.5
.
Step-by-step explanation:
let's calculate the three central tendency measures:
-
mean
= μ = (
22 + 114 + 115 + 120 + 122 + 125) / 6 = 103
-
median
= m: we have 6 values, therefore the median will be the average between the third and the fourth value:
22 114 115 | 120 122 125
m = (115 + 120) / 2 = 117.5
-
mode
: all the values appear only once, therefore the mode is not applicable.
Since our values are not symmetrically distributed (we have 22 which differs a lot from the other values), the
median
should be preferred than the mean as best central tendency measure.
