What is the value of x?

37 because we have the formula cosy = sin(90 - y);

Given that sin(x) = cos(53°)

We know the following fact about complementary angle :-

If we have two complementary angles such that A + B = 90°,

then cosA = sinB or sinA = cosB.

So we can use the above fact and solve the equation for x.

sin(x) = cos(53°)

⇒ x + 53° = 90°

Subtracting 53° from both sides,

⇒ x +53° -53° = 90° -53°

⇒ x = 37°

Hence, x = 37 degrees is the answer.
