Then according to the question,

`(x+y)/(2)=260`

`\implies x + y = 520-----(1)`

Again according to the question,

`2x = y + 80`

`\implies 2x - y = 80----(2)`

Equation (1) + equation (2),

3x = 600

⇒ x =
`(600)/(3)` = 200,

From equation (1),

200 + y = 520

⇒ y = 520 - 200 = 320

Hence, Malcolm’s and Ravi’s maximum speeds are 200 km/h and 320 km/h respectively.
