$17 < √(300) < 18\ becouse\ 17^2=289 < 300 < 324=18^2$

$17.3^2= 299.29 < 300\\\\17.4^2=302.76 > 300$

17.3 < √(300) < 17.4

$√(300)\ \text{is closer to 17.3. Therefore}\ √(300)\approx17.3$
