Cold war
Peaceful existence was promoted by Nikita Khrushchev , while the detente was popularized during the era of Nixon and ended with the Afghanistan invasion it was a time of relaxed tensions between the super powers. Brinkmanship was a cold war foreign policy used which is where a country would push a dangerous issue or event to the edge looking for the best outcome for there side.
