the main reasons were dictatorial tendency, oil revenue and increased westernization of Iran.
The revolution was in part a conservative backlash against the westernization, modernization and secularization efforts of the Western-backed Shah. The shah were viewed as being a western agent of perpetrating injustices, which he did through the secret police.

The Shah's government was known for its autocracy, his one man rule where political corruption and political persecution were enforced by the Iranian secret police known as the Savak. Ayatollah Khomeini accused the Shah of Westernization, violation of the Iranian constitution and for paving a path towards the destruction of Islam in Iran.
