SERIOUSLY HELP ME. I'VE BEEN SITTING HERE FOR AT LEAST HALF AN HOUR WITH NO HELP. THIS IS MY LAST QUESTION FOR THE YEAR.

What was the Tidelands controversy, and how did it represent a major change in Texas politics in the 1950's? (In your own words, nothing too fancy please).

In Texas during the 50s Texas has had many underwater places for as long as it has existed, and so when it was discovered that there was oil deposits in those areas the Government wanted to take all of those places away from Texas who were the main owners of the land, and so politics changed because texas started to hate anyone who tried to take away the land and oil deposits so therefore they switched their presidential support based on this problem.

Hope this helped!
