5 1/3 + (-3 9/18
Change both to same denominator: 18
5 1/3 = 5 6/18
-3 9/18 = -3 9/18
5 6/18 + (-3 9/18)
----------↓----------
5 6/18 - 3 9/18
5 6/18 = 4 24/18
4 24/18 - 3 9/18 = 1 15/18
1 15/18 = 1 5/6
Your answer is 1 5/6
Hope this helps
:)
