Let j = 16. What is the value of k in the equation k = 2 × j + 4?

You put 16 in for j

k = 2 * 16 + 4

Multiply

k = 32 + 4

Add

k = 36

The answer is 36

Substitute j with 16

That equals:

Exponents

Addition
Subtraction

Multiplication comes before addition

2 × 16 = 32
