The high school track measures one quarter of a mile around. How many laps would you have to run in order three and a half miles

Answer: 14 laps

Step-by-step explanation:
Since 1 lap = 1/4 of a mile, then 4 laps = 1 mile.
If you know you need 3 miles, then that's already 3 * 4 laps = 12 laps.
To get the last 1/2 of a mile, you would do 2 laps since it is 1/2 of the number of laps needed for 1 mile.
So the 12 laps (from the 3 miles) plus the 2 laps (from the 1/2 mile) = 14 laps
