What is ironic about the outside world? How does this connect to life on the island? (Lord of the flies)

The novel Lord of the Flies by William Golding shows the outside world as ironic by portraying the paradoxical relationship of man with its own evil--intellect, civilization, technology and politics.

The life of the boys on the island displays human beings naturally create an organization and a system that it will eventually corrupt, leading to self destruction.
