The year 1942-1943 marked a turning point of the war in French North Africa after British and American allied forces won battles of coral seas using aircraft carriers. In North Africa, British and American forces led by General Eisenhower trapped Rommel's Army which surrendered in May 1943 bringing North Africa under the control of the Allies.
