Which of the following best describes the expression 5(x + 2)?
A: The sum of constant factors 5 and x + 2
B: The product of constant factors 5 and x + 2
C: The sum of a constant factor 5 and a 2-term factor x + 2
D: The product of a constant factor 5 and a 2-term factor x + 2

5(x+2) is the same as 5*(x+2) where the asterisk means multiplication. We are multiplying 5 by all of (x+2).

Recall that "product" is the result of multiplying two or more numbers or expressions. For example, 12 is the product of 2 and 6 since 2*6 = 12.

So the answer is either B or D because of the use of "product" in the wording. However, choice B is not entirely correct because while 5 is constant, x+2 is not constant. It's not constant because the x is a variable so x+2 is a variable term. A better term is binomial or 2 factor term works as well

Answer: Choice D) Product of constant factor 5 and 2-term factor x+2
