Cogon grass is an invasive grass that is considered a pest in 73 countries and a weed of 35 crops worldwide. As a perennial grass weed, it is an inferior forage grass that negatively impacts biodiversity. It creates a very competitive environment for commercially-important species and displaces native animal and plant species. Cogon grass can also alter fire regimes.
