According to Erikson's theory of psychosocial development, integrity vs. despair refers to the final stage of development that older adults aged 65 + years  experience. During this stage of development, older individuals who experience a sense of integrity reflect and look back on their lives in terms of their achievements, success and important experiences and interpersonal relationships with a sense of satisfaction and contentment.
