They're both solved using elimination method. [The labels 'Method 1' & 'Method 2' do not change the way they're solved here].

x = 3
y = 1
You can get this by adding straight through and the y terms will cancel. Then divide the x terms to get the answer. You can then plug that x into either equation to solve for y.
