The Nazis, especially Hitler, took advantage of the fact that Germany was in a horrible state of debt and depression from the 1st World War. He managed to convince a starving population that he could save them. This naive population gave him their trust, and the spread of the Nazi party was inbound. He proved he was capable of being given that trust. Marxism, which is basically the first theory and stage of communism, was easy to spread through force and trust of others. A way to feed a population equally during a huge depression where food was difficult to pay for, it was a concept no one went to understand for a while because it sounded simple. Food, money, housing. Easy to obtain this way, right? Sounds like it.
