The 1950s post World War II era saw exceptional prosperity and growth in the United States.
United States had emerged after the war as the richest country in the world and there was huge demand for its products in European countries recovering from the war.
This gave a boost to local manufacturers and exports leading to high-paying jobs and a huge domestic retail market.
