Claire coaches a rec-league field hockey team. She has four pairs of practice socks in yellow, pink, orange, and peach, and she has two pairs of shoes, one black and one red. She randomly grabs a pair of socks and a pair of shoes to wear and heads off to practice. What are the possible outcomes for this situation?

Answer: There are 8 possible outcomes for this situation.

Explanation:

Since we have given that

Number of pairs of socks = 4

i.e. yellow(Y), pink(P), orange(O), peach(PE)

Number of pairs of shoes = 2

i.e. red(R) and black(B)

So, the possible outcomes for this situation would be

{RY, RP, RO, RPE, BY, BP, BO, BPE}

Hence, there are 8 possible outcomes for this situation.
